A daughter of immigrant parents from the Philippines, Joycelyn understands the hopes and struggles of newcomers and is proud to engage with and help bring multicultural communities together. She thrives on working with clients, exploring ways for them to grow their businesses, expand their reach, and surpass their goals. With a marketing background that spans almost 20 years at global organizations like Western Union and KPMG, Joycelyn’s the ultimate big-picture thinker who brings a uniquely positive, anything’s-possible approach to every new strategic ask. She combines this with a wealth of marketing knowledge and a firm grounding in financials, making her a true force to be reckoned with. She’s also a huge Star Wars fan (we’re talking e-v-e-r-y episode). Adventurer (ask her about her white water rafting or pole jumping exploits). Musician (she can teach you how to play piano). The best part of Shah’s day is when he’s coming up with new ways for us to grow AVC new business. He says he gets his positive approach from his father, but we think he’s also always smiling because he hits the beach whenever he can and spends a lot of time thinking of how he can help people – at work, home … and just in general. (Awwww!) Shah spent the last decade making waves in brand and marketing roles at some of Pakistan’s most accomplished companies, like Raaziq Group, METRO CASH & CARRY, and Servis Sales Corporation. He’s our resident guru when it comes to winning new business and managing relationships with national and global powerhouse clients including Western Union, Estée Lauder, MAC, Clinique, H&M, WINNERS, Maserati, BMW, Cineplex and Elizabeth Arden. He’s also a massive Manchester United fan (we try not to mention Liverpool around the office) and has a daring streak: he’s been cliff diving, caving and paragliding. Which probably helps balance off all his PS4 all-nighters.

Specifically, lunch (mmm, hot pot). Occasionally, what it would be like to be Elastigirl (maybe stretching her arm down the street to bring that hot pot back to the office quicker). Or her recent family trip to Banff, Alberta. But, mostly it’s numbers. Like telling us what we spent on printer toner and coloured markers this quarter. Or how much we earned from all those award-winning campaigns we launched last month. Or why a hot pot budget is so important to the well-being of all humans on the planet. Well those first two, for sure. That last one might just be all in Shirley’s head.

Working with colours and shapes is something Hassan loves the most about his Art Director role at AVC. They’re things he does as a hobby, but getting paid for them is pretty awesome. Hassan has helped some of the biggest corporate names around the world bring their brand identities to life. At AV he’s worked with national and global icons including Western Union, Tim Horton’s, H&M, and World Vision. In previous roles at agencies, like MullenLowe Group, Ogilvy & Mather and Anahata Studios in Lahore, Pakistan, Hassan worked with product giants including Nestlé, Phillip Morris and Samsung. He’s travelled extensively in Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey and the UK, where one of his favourite things to do is roam around city streets, taking photographs, sketching and soaking in all the culture and history around him. For fascinating sights and colours, Istanbul tops his list. He’s a self-proclaimed biryani junkie, but, frustratingly, won’t eat cake. Andy Warhol and Karim Rashid are his heroes, but being in enclosed spaces is his kryptonite.

Ulyssis’s love for advertising started young—literally during commercial breaks. As a kid, he and his brother would race to name the brand before the ad ended, unknowingly kickstarting his career in the industry. That early enthusiasm turned into a full-fledged career when he landed a role at an independent design agency, and the rest is history. As Group Account Director, Ulyssis thrives on variety. He loves getting deep into industries, decoding brand challenges, and crafting solutions that actually make an impact. Known for his level-headed approach (even under intense pressure), he’s the steady hand that keeps projects on course. Off-duty, you’ll find Ulyssis watching carpentry vlogs, medical dramas, and marveling at tiny homes—so much so that he dreams of road-tripping through Canada in one with his two dogs.

Before Ton Au became the Strategic Planning Director at AVC, she was on the client side of marketing, where her bold ideas were often seen as too daring for in-house projects. With a nudge from her colleagues to unleash her creativity in an agency setting, she dove headfirst into advertising, transforming imaginative concepts into successful realities. Ton’s approach to her role is much like a chef perfecting a new recipe. She loves the thrill of mixing ideas, strategizing plans, and seeing them come to life.When she’s not at work, Ton channels her creativity into cooking, treating each dish as a new masterpiece. She’s also a passionate pianist, letting her fingers dance over the keys with the same fervor she brings to her campaigns.

Ainee is a triple threat: straddling between business, creative, and media for several years. She worked for advertising giants such as Ogilvy and Publicis and has dabbled into public relations via Grayscale and MINT PR. Ainee has managed and executed traditional, digital, influencer, and even celebrity campaigns too! Bringing her talent to global food and beverage brands such as Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Pepsi, 7UP, and consumer electronic brands like Samsung and Huawei. Ainee is born in Pakistan but has lived in Nepal and the United Kingdom before settling in Canada. Her dream is to spend her golden years on a farm, surrounded by her furry friends. For now, Ainee will be spending her days in the city at the AVC HQ as Account Manager.

And someday, she wants to take this to the next level by traveling the world. Personality-wise, she is both easy-going and fun, but don’t let that fool you—there’s a streak of discipline that ensures everything runs smoothly and deadlines are always met. Now, that’s not easy. So to make sure all the stress doesn’t take a toll on her, she got into wellness. Whether it’s yoga, meditation, or the latest fitness trends? You can ask her about it. Ashley is also learning Japanese, adding another layer to her cultural expertise.

As a dynamic thinker, Candice is driven by marketing’s requirement to always be on her toes. She has years of experience working in all parts of marketing, notably in the cosmetic and fashion industry. Candice has also launched brands, products, e-commerce sites, sales strategies, and digital and offline campaigns. At AVC, she’s a part of the Account Team, Events Team, and Influencer Management Team. Whether performing a market analysis or directing a photoshoot – Candice does it all. Literally. After graduating from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Information System, she immediately took on managing in-house marketing and entire brands. At the same time, she studied Japanese for four years! She’s also fluent in English and Cantonese. For fun, she enjoys cooking, baking, and exploring large grocery store aisles. One day, she hopes to write a recipe book. (After more practice, she says, though pastries and cheesecake are already a piece of cake). Her life motto: to always explore the world, go outside your comfort zone, and gain international experience. She has travelled to South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Los Angeles, New York, and now lives in Canada!

With her natural talent for connecting with people, Chi found her calling in talent strategy almost by chance. Right after graduating B.Sc. with honours in Psychology from the University of Toronto, she considered pursuing a master’s degree—until the price tag encouraged her to dive straight into the workforce. It turned out to be the perfect move, as she soon landed a role with a boutique talent firm in the creative space. There, she discovered her love for creating team environments where people feel at home. As our Talent & Team Experience Lead, Chi crafts team strategies that empower individuals to shine. Her approach isn’t about routine; it’s about creating experiences where people feel genuinely appreciated and energized. Outside of work, you’ll find her doing hot yoga or collecting magnets from her travels, each one a memento of her journey. She lives by the words, “Grow beyond comfort, rise beyond self”—a mantra that shapes every strategy she brings to our team.

Dawn has always been on the move. She has set her sights on leaving her footprints all over the world. Backpacking in China, UK, Australia, US, and Canada.Originally from Hong Kong, Dawn earned her MSc, majoring in Business and Information Technology in the UK, and is a certified Communications and Advertising Accredited Professional (CAAP) in Canada. She has put her rich background to good use. Working in the advertising industry for over 15 years with clients from different industries such as insurance, retail, telecommunications, financial, automobile, government, and public service. Dawn also wears many hats, taking up different roles in new business development, account servicing, media management, and production. Some of the accounts she has handled include Allstate Insurance Canada, 3M, Walmart, and Procter & Gamble brands such as Tide, Pantene, Olay, Oral B, and Crest. As a graduate of Translation and Interpretation, Dawn speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, capable of reading and writing in Traditional and Simplified Chinese plus English. In her spare time, Dawn likes to garden. Her greatest accomplishment is setting up an indoor tropical paradise with a 12+ foot Strelitzia Reginae (Bird of Paradise). And yes, it’s still growing.

Currently, he is diving into the world of golf and pickleball. Despite the stress the job entails, Eddie’s laid-back humour makes everyone around him feel good vibes. His life mantra "Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it 'The Present'" is what fuels this positive attitude. His easy-going personality is the perfect mix of fun, creativity, and dedicated professionalism. Meet Ez, the numbers guy with a creative streak. Graduated with a diploma in Global Business Management from Seneca College, Ez found a unique path into advertising. He initially joined AVC as a brand ambassador, and while he really enjoyed working in events, nothing can match his first love. As a kid, Ez dreamed of being a grocery store cashier, purely because he loved working with numbers. This numerical passion stayed with him, but he also developed a love for writing during his grade school years. Fast forward to today, he's found his perfect niche at AVC where he gets to play with numbers and indulge in his passion for writing – a classic case of hitting two birds with one stone! He might be quiet at first, but don’t be fooled because once he gets going, there's no stopping him. He describes his personality (still in math fashion) as 60% introvert, 20% extrovert, and 20% aspiring extrovert. Outside the office, Ez has been channeling his energy into home cooking. He’s also gearing up to launch his own t-shirt printing business. Great, more math for Ez!

Since then, she has been obsessed with turning conceptual ideas into reality. From doodling in workbooks in elementary school to earning a Bachelor's in Global Business and Digital Arts at the University of Waterloo, she’s held onto the belief that design should move to understand and influence. And this passion for creating things that appeal to others' emotions drew her into advertising. As a Graphic Designer, Emily loves that there's always a new skill to learn and everyday problems to demystify and solve, leading a life of curiosity and empathy. But Emily isn't just about design; she has a huge soft spot for metal music and an ever-growing concert bucket list. One item from this list is to become a tattoo artist one day. For now, she collects tattoos from artists she admires, creating a living gallery on her body. Although she is not a very loud person, her ideas and designs surely scream creativity and effectiveness.

While developing skiing into an art of speed and baking into an art of patience/science, Jan is the digital marketing chef cooking with analytics and creativity as his major ingredients. Jan has loved skiing since he was six years old, and the cold doesn’t deter him one bit. That’s why, when he moved from Turkey to Canada in 2019, he quickly adapted to the new weather as a ski master. He also made adjustments to upgrade his career, and further developed his passion for digital marketing earning a degree/certificate from Seneca College. He has worked with clients across industries including Burger King, Popeyes, Dominos, Mango, Kia, SickKids, Queen’s University etc. Jan has great passion to learn about new languages and different cultures, starting from chatting with his teammates (in English for now) in AVC. Ideally, Jan would travel a lot if money could just keep coming in automatically. His dream travel destination is Tokyo for its food and its underground fashion. His visit to Harry Potter studio in London was the best moment of his life (so far), the time when he sold a luxury apartment through his Facebook ads could be considered as the second best. Well, the worst moment(s) of his life will be every time he sees a cockroach.

To say that Kai likes to learn is an understatement as he had traveled different continents just to study. Right after graduating from one of the top media schools in China, he went to the UK to get his master’s degree in media and public relations. But his adventure didn’t stop there. He continued his studies here in Canada and has been showcasing his marketing skills and creative ideas. He may have gone through a lot of roles in the industry – from being the Marketing Manager at Financial Times Beijing to being a Content Marketing Specialist at AVC. But the role he loves the most? It’s being a father. And he carries this nurturing attitude with him whenever he mentors new immigrants. Aside from volunteering, his hobbies include collecting coins and banknotes from his travels. Fun Fact: Shortly after arriving in Canada, he ordered the Year of the Ox and Year of the Tiger coins from the Royal Canadian Mint to mark the zodiacs of his family and the year they immigrated.

As a versatile writer and editor in both Chinese and English, Liu is experienced with documentary scriptwriting, commercial script writing, content marketing, copywriting, and translation. She loves words, and she often wonders if ‘bilingual writing’ could become her life work. Liu thrives on learning and expanding her horizon. Video and coding are two new languages she recently acquired and she’s eager to explore them further – a testament to her indomitable will. Liu has a BA double major in Chinese Literature and Philosophy from Peking University, a master’s degree of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto, and a certificate in application development in Toronto. She has a deep connection to these subjects, and she likes Su Shi – A Chinese literati/ gastronomist – (and yes, she also likes sushi), Kurt Vonnegut, Henri Matisse, Jiang Wen and Léa Seydoux. One thing you’ll be quick to find out about Liu is that she has a keen interest in developing both useful and useless everyday skills. She’ll tell you about that time she built a bed, grew gigantic sunflowers, fixed her toilet, cooked superb duck, and finally, how she enjoys being constantly perched by an exotic bird. In her third year of self-learning classical guitar, she started a YouTube channel aptly named “All We Can Eat” to experiment with sit-down comedy and casual comparative studies on Western/Eastern cuisine. With her eclectic tastes and diverse skillset, it is no wonder that Liu plays multiple roles at AVC, including Chinese and English copywriting, influencer management, and multimedia content production for AVC’s official WeChat account.

But at home, she gets the role of being the resident pet cat who loves naps and snacks, someone who takes a while to warm up to people; but once she does, she’s your loyal companion. Outside of work and home, she’s literally outside watching a live music gig, or playing tennis, or running. Lately, she’s found herself passionately following F1 races (despite not being behind the wheel herself).

She has made three countries her home: China, France, and Canada, and it’s not surprising that she speaks fluent Mandarin, French, and English, which makes Canada officially one of the most welcoming countries for her. But, if you think of all Xi’s adventures, her triple treat is only one fifth of the countries she has been. Living and visiting different places has given her unique perspectives on both life and work. As a SEM expert in previous agencies like Performics (Publicis) and Havas Media, she worked with both B2B and B2C clients including Lenovo, Emirates, Oracle, Singapore Tourism Board, AXA. Xi’s personality is nothing short of a paradox: she has a fear for deep bodies of water (Thalassophobia, perhaps), but the seaside is her favorite landscape when she’s choosing a travel destination. She loves summer yet she chose Montreal as her latest hometown; and though she feasts on dessert, one of her biggest accomplishments has been losing over 10kg with exercise. Her solution to her contradictory traits is to keep a good balance of everything in life and work. Xi believes that an interesting soul makes an interesting world, and she proves that every day in how she lives her life with boundless enthusiasm and a knack for adventure.
